uber eats case study

Over the past 20 years, we have helped many businesses across a wide range of industries with our end-to-end supply chain solutions. Whether the project involves using all of our services from product design to last-mile delivery and beyond, or just helping a business find the perfect global supplier or warehouse, we give every project our all to help the client achieve their objectives, whatever this may be.

However, a problem presented itself in the form of equipment. A favourite food item to order for delivery is of course pizza. Unfortunately, the delivery riders found they had to fold the pizza boxes to fit them into their bags, resulting in pizzas being damaged on arrival and looking less than appetising. This could leave customers feeling unsatisfied and disappointed with their order, which in turn meant restaurants would be losing repeat business. Over time, traffic through Uber Eats would start decreasing, along with the potential for more refunds to be issued and less general spend. It was clear that a solution was required.

Connected Sourcing worked with Uber Eats to design a fully insulated delivery backpack that would keep the deliveries fresh, hot and free from damage. Through the design process, Connected Sourcing’s innovative patented ‘Pizza Backpack’ was born.

Ever evolving, the backpack specification has been tweaked and edited to ensure it consistently meets the requirements of each various Uber Eats city. This is testament to Connected Sourcing’s ability to quickly adapt, manufacture and ship products on a large scale. Here are some of the key features of the bags –

Why Does Product Design Matter?

Product design is often overlooked, but it is one of the most important aspects of any business for it to succeed. By establishing a great product design, we will finally reap the benefits of developing a quality product – Uber Eat’s Pizza Backpack is a testament to that.

Why does product design matter? Here are a few reasons.

Make or break a product

Product design can either make or break a product that’s why everything from the user experience to the manufacturing process has to be considered. All of it needs to come together to create a product that people will love and use.

Improved quality

A good product design means it doesn’t just look and feel nice, it should also be safe, functional, and durable. These factors can lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty, which is essential for any business.

Stand-out from competitors

A well-designed product can make your company’s products stand out in a crowded marketplace.

Improve business services

The bottom line is that a great design can positively impact your business. They can lead to better reviews, increased sales, and higher profits.

When it comes to product design, there is no substitute for experience and expertise. Ultimately, your product design affects whether or not you will be successful. So make sure to keep it at the top of your priorities.
